3 ISLANDS • JUNE 8–17, 2027
Corsica · Sardinia · Sicily 2027 — The Great Mediterranean Islands Crossing
12 days riding the three legendary Mediterranean islands — Cap Corse, Costa Smeralda, SS125, Targa Florio and Mount Etna.
2,640 km · Genova → Catania · BMW R1300GS included.
There are beautiful roads. And there are roads that seem to have been created exclusively for motorcyclists. The Great Islands Crossing is born from that idea: ride three of the most legendary Mediterranean islands on some of the most technical, aggressive and pleasurable asphalt on the planet.
In Corsica — considered by many European motorcyclists to be one of the world’s best islands to ride — you find mountains that plunge into the Mediterranean, abrasive granite asphalt and infinite curves over cliffs. In Sardinia the island wins through rhythm: constant curves, impeccable asphalt, continuous flow — the legendary SS125, famous worldwide among motorcyclists, is the most technical day of the Sardinian phase. In Sicily everything changes again: active volcanoes, millennial history, the legendary Targa Florio circuit and Mount Etna — Europe’s tallest active volcano — create a simply surreal experience.
Twelve days. Genova as entry, Catania as exit. Fly & Ride Premium with BMW included — you arrive, pick up the bike and you’re on the trip. Three completely different islands, connected by something in common: roads absurdly perfect for motorcycles.
Europe-tour format: BMW R1300GS rental in Europe is always included in the price (handover in Genova, return in Catania). UpSerra handles hotels, the support vehicle, route planning, bilingual guides and the two overnight ferry crossings (Genova → Corsica, Cagliari → Sicily). You bring your motorcycle license and your gear — flight to Genova (GOA) on D0 and out of Catania (CTA) on D11 are on the rider. Moderate / Advanced level — technical island riding with abrasive asphalt and demanding curve sequences.
DEPARTURE
June 8 — 17, 2027
THE ROUTE
Three islands, two ferries, one unforgettable ride
Genova → Ferry → Corsica · Cap Corse · Calanches de Piana → Bonifacio → Ferry → Sardinia · Costa Smeralda · Barbagia · SS125 → Cagliari → Ferry → Sicily · Targa Florio · Mount Etna · Ragusa & Modica · Taormina → Catania
12 days through three Mediterranean islands
DAY 0 · GENOVA · ARRIVAL + OVERNIGHT FERRY
Genova — arrival, briefing & ferry to Corsica
Official welcome from the UpSerra team in Genova — one of the greatest maritime republics in European history. Technical briefing, BMW handover and time to explore the historic centre (UNESCO World Heritage). At night: boarding the overnight ferry to Corsica. The adventure starts on the Mediterranean.
🇫🇷 PHASE 1 · CORSICA
DAY 1 · CORSICA · ~280 KM · CAP CORSE + AGRIATES
Bastia → Cap Corse → Désert des Agriates
Disembark in Bastia and start immediately. The route climbs the legendary Cap Corse — the “Finger” of Corsica — an infinite sequence of curves over the sea with granite walls on each side. Corsican asphalt is famous among European motorcyclists for its abrasive texture and exceptional grip. Then the Désert des Agriates: a wild and isolated region that feels completely outside Europe.
DAY 2 · CORSICA · ~310 KM · CALANCHES DE PIANA
Heart of the island + Calanches de Piana
Crossing of the central mountains — passage through Corte, suspended villages, granite walls and narrow roads disappearing into the vegetation. Highlight: the Calanches de Piana, sculpted red granite formations dropping into the sea — UNESCO heritage and one of the most photographed spots in the Mediterranean.
DAY 3 · CROSSING · ~260 KM + FERRY · BONIFACIO + COSTA SMERALDA
Bonifacio + ferry → Sardinia + Costa Smeralda
Descent to Bonifacio — a city built on 60-meter limestone cliffs directly over the sea, one of the most impressive in the Mediterranean. Ferry crossing of the Strait of Bonifacio — 12 km separating France from Italy. First kilometers along the Costa Smeralda: crystal-clear water and technical roads showing a Sardinia completely different from Corsica.
🇮🇹 PHASE 2 · SARDINIA
DAY 4 · SARDINIA · ~320 KM · BARBAGIA
Wild Barbagia
The mountainous interior of the island. Barbagia preserves a primitive, almost untouched Sardinia: empty roads, constant-radius curves and fluid riding all day. Villages where inhabitants maintain millennia-old customs, and the nuraghi — Bronze Age stone towers — appear in fields beside the roads. One of the most pleasurable days of the expedition.
DAY 5 · SARDINIA · ~300 KM · SS125 ORIENTALE SARDA
SS125 Orientale Sarda → Cagliari
The most technical day in Sardinia. We ride the legendary SS125 — one of the most famous roads in the world among motorcyclists. Absurd sequence of curves with excellent visibility, perfect asphalt and the sea appearing between mountains. Arrival in Cagliari — Sardinia’s capital, with 2,800 years of history accumulated in the Castello district.
DAY 6 · CROSSING · CAGLIARI + OVERNIGHT FERRY
Cagliari free morning + ferry to Sicily
Free morning in Cagliari — time to rest and walk through the city. At night: boarding the overnight ferry to Sicily. The Mediterranean takes on a completely different energy — the Italian island is an explosive mix of volcanoes, millennial culture and top-tier riding. The biggest phase of the expedition starts here.
🇮🇹 PHASE 3 · SICILY
DAY 7 · SICILY · ~290 KM · TARGA FLORIO + MADONIE
Targa Florio & Madonie
Today we ride the roads of the legendary Targa Florio — the most dangerous and iconic street race in world motorsport history. Fast curves, mountains and history-laden roads in the Madonie, the massif dominating the northwest of the island. Riding literally over the route of one of the most mythical races in the sport.
DAY 8 · SICILY · ~310 KM · MOUNT ETNA
The Giant — Mount Etna
The big day of the expedition. We climb the slopes of Mount Etna — Europe’s tallest active volcano (3,357 m). Black volcanic-lava asphalt, lunar landscape and curves carved into black rock create a simply surreal experience. On clear days, the smoking crater is visible from the helmet. The most epic moment of the entire trip.
DAY 9 · SICILY · ~300 KM · BAROQUE SOUTHEAST
Sicilian Baroque Southeast — Ragusa & Modica
Complete scenery change. Fluid riding between historic cities of southeastern Sicily: Ragusa and Modica — UNESCO-classified Baroque cities rebuilt after the 1693 earthquake, forming a unique architectural ensemble in the Mediterranean. Perfect mix of road and culture.
DAY 10 · SICILY · ~250 KM · TAORMINA · CLOSING
Taormina & closing
The expedition’s last ride. Along the eastern Sicilian coast to Taormina — one of the most beautiful cities in the Mediterranean, with the 3rd-century B.C. Greek Theatre framed by Etna in the background and the Ionian Sea below. Official closing of the Great Islands Crossing with a special dinner overlooking the sea.
DAY 11 · CATANIA · DEPARTURE
Catania — flights / departure
Free morning. BMW handover and transfer to Catania-Fontanarossa airport — direct flights or via Rome and Milan. Official closing. Until the next road.

Frequently asked questions
Which airports — Genova and Catania?
Yes — fly into Genova (GOA) by D0 (June 8, 2027) and out of Catania-Fontanarossa (CTA) on D11 (June 17, 2027). Catania has direct flights to most European hubs and connections via Rome (FCO) or Milan (MXP) for intercontinental travel.
How do the overnight ferries work?
Two overnight ferries are part of the route: Genova → Corsica (Bastia) on D0 night, and Cagliari → Sicily (Palermo) on D6 night. Both are with private cabin (standard category included in the package). The bikes are secured below deck. UpSerra books all crossings months in advance — peak season fills up early.
How does the BMW R1300GS rental work?
UpSerra rents the BMW R1300GS in Europe through its partner network. The bike is included in the package — you don’t pay separately. Comprehensive insurance, registration and roadside assistance are part of the rental. Refundable damage deposit at handover, around EUR 1,500.
What’s the weather like in mid-June on the Mediterranean islands?
Early summer in the Mediterranean. 20-30°C across the route — Corsica and Sardinia mountain passes can be cooler (12-18°C in early morning). Sicily and southern coastal sections warm up to 28-32°C in afternoon. Predominantly dry weather with occasional Mediterranean showers. Vented gear with a thin liner works for most of the trip.
How tough is this tour?
Moderate / Advanced level. Island roads are technical with abrasive granite asphalt (Corsica), constant-radius curves (Sardinia) and lava-asphalt mountain riding (Etna, Sicily). Daily averages 250-320 km. For experienced riders comfortable on big bikes (700cc+) on serpentine and mountain roads. Not a first European tour for inexperienced riders.
Can my partner come on the back as a passenger?
Yes. The Couple — Double Room option covers two bikes plus shared cabin on the overnight ferries — meaning both partners ride. If you want a back-of-the-bike-only configuration (one bike, one rider, one passenger), reach out via WhatsApp for a custom quote.
