Expedition Ushuaia 2027 — The End of the World Awaits
9,945 km from Urubici to the southernmost city on Earth and back through the continent.
Ruta 40, Fitz Roy, Perito Moreno, Torres del Paine, Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia.
21 days · 4 borders · Challenging level.
The most ambitious expedition in the UpSerra 2027 calendar. Twenty-one days riding 9,945 km across Brazil, Argentina and Chile to Ushuaia, the southernmost city on Earth, and back through the continent. All by motorcycle, no shortcuts, in the classic motorcycle expedition format: you depart from Urubici and return to Urubici, savoring every kilometer of the Argentine Pampa, the legendary Ruta 40, Chilean Patagonia with Torres del Paine, Tierra del Fuego, and the return along the Atlantic coast. Challenging level — the highest on the calendar.
Along the way, you cross 4 international borders (BR↔AR↔CL↔AR↔BR), pick up Ruta 40 in Esquel, ride the famous “73 Incredibles” before reaching Monte Fitz Roy in El Chaltén, visit the Perito Moreno Glacier in El Calafate, cross Torres del Paine in Chile, ferry across the Strait of Magellan, arrive in Ushuaia with the Beagle Channel and Bahia Lapataia, and ride back along the Atlantic coast through Rio Gallegos, Caleta Olivia and Puerto Madryn. Three strategic rest days (Esquel D6, El Chaltén D9, El Calafate D11, Ushuaia D15) to recover between long stages.
This is not a first international tour. Stages up to 786 km/day, Patagonian crosswind, possibility of snow at altitude, ferries, and the reality of living three weeks on the bike. For riders who have already done Mendoza, Atacama+Mendoza or Carretera Austral and want to close the definitive Patagonia AR-CL roadbook from Brazil to Brazil. The full logistics is UpSerra: hotels, pre-booked ferries, guides, support vehicle, professional photography. You can bring your own bike or rent a UpSerra BMW R1300GS prepared for the route.

Frequently asked questions
Why is this expedition Challenging level?
It’s the highest level on the UpSerra 2027 calendar. 21 days, stages up to 786 km/day, Patagonian crosswind, possibility of snow at altitude, mandatory ferries on the Strait of Magellan, 4 international borders. This is not a first international tour — it’s for riders who’ve already done Mendoza, Atacama+Mendoza or Carretera Austral and want to close the definitive Patagonia AR-CL roadbook.
How does the Strait of Magellan crossing work?
To enter and exit Tierra del Fuego, the Strait of Magellan ferry is mandatory (Punta Delgada ↔ Bahía Azul, ~30 min each way). UpSerra books in advance. Each ferry costs ~USD 30-40 paid directly. On bad-weather days the strait can close — UpSerra has a logistical Plan B in place.
What’s the weather like in March / November in Patagonia?
Departure I (March): end of austral summer transitioning to autumn. More stable temperatures and less intense wind than spring. Thermometers between 5–18°C in Ushuaia, up to 22°C in El Chaltén. Long days (sun until ~8 p.m.). Less snow and ice than November.
Departure II (November): southern spring. More wind, more variable weather, but landscapes still spectacular. Layered gear and rain jacket essential in both windows.
I don’t have an adequate bike — can I rent one?
Yes. UpSerra operates a fleet of BMW R1300GS prepared for Patagonia. Rental adds ~USD 2,500 over the own-bike price and covers a ready-to-go bike, up-to-date maintenance, mechanical support, and the bike waiting for you in Urubici on D1.
What’s the difference between Expedition Ushuaia and Ushuaia Fly&Ride?
Expedition Ushuaia (this tour): departs from Urubici, 21 days, 9,945 km with 4 borders. Allows own bike or rental. The full classic motorcycle expedition. Ushuaia Fly&Ride 2027: 10 days, fly into El Calafate, BMW R1300GS included, focus on the Southern Patagonia loop. Lighter, shorter, one-flight-and-ride format.
How does living 21 days on the bike work?
The route has 3 strategic rest days (Esquel D6, El Chaltén D9, El Calafate D11) plus Ushuaia D15 with Beagle Channel/Lapataia. UpSerra calibrates the pace so you don’t arrive exhausted at crucial points. Lodging is comfortable, with time to sleep well and recover. Pack 3 weeks of riding gear smartly.
