    USHUAIA FLY&RIDE • 3 DEPARTURES JAN-FEB 2027

Ushuaia Fly&Ride 2027 — To the End of the World

Fly into El Calafate, ride a UpSerra BMW R1300GS to Ushuaia and back through Torres del Paine, Tierra del Fuego and Fitz Roy.
    2,600 km · 10 days · Moderate level.

You fly straight into El Calafate and the BMW R1300GS prepared by the team is already waiting. Ten days that begin where Patagonia gets spectacular — Perito Moreno Glacier on D2, Torres del Paine on D3, the End of the World on D5.

The route crosses Argentina and Chile four times, with the mandatory ferry across the Strait of Magellan to enter Tierra del Fuego. A closed loop starting and ending in El Calafate. Includes 2 nights in Ushuaia (with optional Beagle Channel and Bahia Lapataia) and 2 nights in El Chaltén at the foot of Fitz Roy. Moderate difficulty with long legs balanced by free days.

No CRLV, no Green Card, no extra paperwork — the BMW documentation and all AR↔CL border crossings are handled by the team. You bring a Category A motorcycle license, your gear and your gloves. The bike is ours.

The route is technical mostly because of the wind: long stages (up to 569 km on D7) interspersed with rest days. January and February are the peak of the austral summer — the best weather window of the year in Patagonia: 8–18°C in Ushuaia, up to 25°C in El Chaltén, daylight until 10 p.m. The Patagonian wind is still strong and demands layered gear. Riders who finish this tour close one of the most coveted itineraries in world motorcycle touring without burning their entire vacation on the bike.

    Frequently asked questions

How does the Fly&Ride format work?

You buy your Brazil → El Calafate (FTE) flight. UpSerra meets you at the airport on D1 and hands over a prepared BMW R1300GS. On D10 you return the bike in El Calafate. The bike is ours, so no CRLV or Green Card is needed. You bring ID/passport, Category A license and your personal gear.

How do the ferry crossings work?

To enter and exit Tierra del Fuego, the Strait of Magellan ferry is mandatory (~30-min crossing). UpSerra books in advance. Approximate cost: USD 30-40 per crossing. Logistical Plan B in place if weather closes the strait.

Do I need to buy an international flight?

Yes — Brazil → El Calafate (FTE) round-trip is on the rider. Approximate cost: USD 500-800 (regular fare) with connections via Buenos Aires. Direct LATAM flights from São Paulo are sometimes available depending on the season.

What’s the weather like in January-February in southern Patagonia?

Peak austral summer — the best window of the year. 8–18°C in Ushuaia, up to 25°C in El Chaltén, daylight until 10 p.m. Patagonian wind is strong year-round. Layered gear is essential.

    How tough is this tour?

Moderate level. Mostly good asphalt with long stages (up to 569 km on D7) interspersed with free days. Main challenges: Patagonian crosswind and cold. Recommended for riders with experience on big bikes (700cc+) who have done the Brazilian serra. Since the bike is UpSerra’s, this is a good entry point to Patagonian moto-touring.

Is the bike always included? Is there a no-bike option?

Yes — BMW R1300GS always included on this tour. There’s no no-bike option. Riders who prefer to bring their own bike should consider the Expedition Ushuaia 2027 (Nov 7–28, 22 days, departing from Urubici, Brazil).
