You leave Hamburg, cross Denmark, enter Norway through the most cinematic fjords on the planet — Lysefjord, Geiranger — climb the Lofoten archipelago where the mountains rise straight from the sea, cross the Arctic Circle toward Nordkapp, the northernmost point of Europe reachable by motorcycle. There and back from Hamburg on a single road — 6,429 km that reset the scale of what you consider a trip.
Fourteen days on a BMW R1300GS riding some of the most beautiful roads in the world: Trollstigen, Atlantic Ocean Road, Lærdal Tunnel (the longest road tunnel in the world), the ferry crossing through the Lofoten islands. MEETUP · THU JUL 27 · HAMBURG
Motorcycle technical handover and briefing dinner
Arrival in Hamburg. In the afternoon, technical handover of the BMW R1300GS bikes by UpSerra’s European rental partner — full bike check, gear, paperwork, and getting familiar with the machine that will be with you for the next 14 days. In the evening, briefing dinner with the crew and the group: review of the day-by-day itinerary, pace, meeting points, tips for crossing Scandinavian borders. First night in Hamburg.

Hamburg → Kristiansund
Early departure from Hamburg. Into Denmark, we cross the Øresund strait, then European motorways into Norway. A long adaptation leg, Nordic landscapes start to appear. Overnight in Kristiansund.
DAY 02 · SAT JUL 28 · 219 KM · LYSEFJORD
Kristiansund → Lysebotn
Short, scenic day. Exploring Lysefjord — one of the most striking fjords in Norway, with vertical walls rising straight from the water. Overnight in Lysebotn, at the head of the fjord.

Lysebotn → Vossestolen
A sequence of legendary natural sights: Latefoss (twin waterfall), Hardanger Bridge (one of the longest suspension bridges in Europe), Vallavik Tunnellen and Tvindefossen (another iconic waterfall). Overnight at Vossestolen Hotel.

Vossestolen → Valldal
Lærdal Tunnel — the longest road tunnel in the world (24.5 km, with 3 lit caverns for a change of atmosphere along the way), Bøyabreen Glacier (an impressive glacier visible from the road), Skei, Utvik, and arrival in the Geiranger region. Overnight in Valldal.

Valldal → Kristiansund · dream roads
Two of the most beautiful roads in the world in a single day: Trollstigen (“the troll road”, with 11 hairpin switchbacks climbing between waterfalls and rock walls), and the Atlantic Ocean Road (the road that hops between islands on arched bridges over the open ocean). Overnight in Kristiansund.

Kristiansund → Trones
Climbing through central Norway, the landscapes growing wilder. Boreal forests, deep lakes, sparse settlements. Overnight at Trones Namsskogan Family Hotel.
DAY 07 · THU AUG 2 · 458 KM + FERRY · LOFOTEN
Trones → Bodo → Moskenes (Lofoten)
We cross the Arctic Circle. Arrival in Bodo, boarding the ferry to Moskenes, in the Lofoten archipelago — iconic landscapes with fishing villages, mountains rising straight from the sea, tiny fjords. Overnight in Moskenes.

Moskenes → Bardufoss
Crossing the Lofoten archipelago — fjords, picturesque villages, iconic landscapes. We return to the mainland and head on to Bardufoss. Wind, the midnight sun starting to show itself.
DAY 09 · SAT AUG 4 · 378 KM · MIDNIGHT SUN
Bardufoss → Alta
Full entry into the Arctic region. Alta is one of the first places in the world to record prehistoric rock carvings (UNESCO World Heritage). The midnight sun is now constant — you ride in late-afternoon light well past midnight.
DAY 10 · SUN AUG 5 · 247 KM · NORDKAPP
Alta → Nordkapp · the northernmost point
Nordkapp — the northernmost point of Europe reachable by road, 71°10′ North. A sheer cliff over the Arctic Ocean. The globe monument on top, the obligatory photo, a feeling few places in the world deliver: literally the end of the continent.
DAY 11 · MON AUG 6 · 585 KM · LAPLAND
Nordkapp → Kolari (Finland)
Descent through Finnish Lapland. Endless forests, mirror-still lakes, Sami people, a unique atmosphere of northern Europe. Kolari, in north-central Finland, closes out the day.
DAY 12 · TUE AUG 7 · 763 KM
Kolari → Sundsvall (Sweden)
Crossing central Sweden — vast forests, lakes, quiet landscapes. The longest leg of the tour, steady pace, hypnotic scenery. Sundsvall, on the Baltic coast, is the stop.
DAY 13 · WED AUG 8 · 662 KM
Sundsvall → Gränna
Central Sweden along Lake Vättern. Gränna is one of the country’s most charming villages, known for its traditional candy (polkagrisar), painted wooden architecture, a setting that looks watercolor-painted.
DAY 14 · THU AUG 9 · 695 KM
Gränna → Hamburg · closing
Final leg. Crossing back through Denmark, return to Germany. Arrival in Hamburg, motorcycle return. Farewell dinner with the group. Flight home the next day.

Scandinavia resets the scale of what you consider a trip
In the Scandinavian summer, above the Arctic Circle, the sun never sets. The midnight sun is literal: you ride past 11pm under a late-afternoon sky. The whole concept of “day” changes. There’s no time to stop — only fatigue. And the scenery never repeats: every 50 km, Norway offers another of the world’s most beautiful roads. Trollstigen, Atlantic Road, Lærdal, Geiranger. Places that are only clichés to people who’ve never been there.
The fjords aren’t scenery — they’re geography on a scale that needs no adjective. Lysefjord, with 1,000-meter walls rising straight from the water. Geiranger, declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Lofoten, where granite mountains plunge into the ocean, red-painted fishing villages reflected in the icy water. Nordkapp, the cliff where Europe ends and the Arctic begins. Fourteen days covering 6,429 km — you come home different.

Motorcycle rental is paid by UpSerra, but deposit, supplemental insurance, and liability for the bike during the trip are handled directly between you and the European rental company. UpSerra guides you through it. Norway is the most expensive destination on the UpSerra calendar — budget generously for fuel and meals.

Documentation (World Standard)
- Valid passport (expiring after February 2028)
- Valid category A driver’s license (new-model Brazilian CNH — accepted by UpSerra’s European rental partner)
- Local insurance: international travel insurance (medical coverage, repatriation, luggage) + supplemental motorcycle insurance via the rental company (CDW to reduce the deductible)
Other prerequisites
- International credit card with a generous limit for the motorcycle deposit + expenses
- Experience on a big bike (700cc+) comfortable on long, varied roads — the tour is rated Moderate, the challenge is mileage more than technical skill
- Own gear: helmet, armored jacket, riding pants, gloves, boots. A 2-in-1 jacket (removable layers) is recommended — temperatures range from 5°C at North Cape to 22°C in the Swedish valleys
- Be in Hamburg on July 27 — technical motorcycle handover in the afternoon + briefing dinner in the evening. Arriving before D1 is not optional: you need to receive the bike, go through paperwork, and join the briefing before D1 departs (early on July 27)
- Vaccinations: none mandatory for the EU

Frequently asked questions
Is it cold in Scandinavia in July/August?
Scandinavian summer is the only viable window for this tour. Southern Norway: 18-22°C. The north (North Cape, Lapland): 8-15°C, with wind. At night at North Cape it can drop to 5°C. Layered gear is mandatory. There’s no snow in July, but rain is frequent — a waterproof shell is essential.
Does the midnight sun mess with your sleep?
Above the Arctic Circle in July/August, the sun never sets. It can feel strange at first — we recommend a sleep mask. The upside: you can ride past 11pm in late-afternoon light. Hotels above the Arctic Circle have quality blackout curtains.
What documentation do I need for this tour?
A valid driver’s license and passport. More specific guidance (translation, code 96, additional documents) is provided by the UpSerra team once your registration is confirmed.
Is this tour technically difficult?
No. Rated Moderate — the challenge is the mileage (several 400+ km days) and the duration (14 days). Norwegian roads are extremely well maintained, excellent asphalt. Trollstigen has 11 switchbacks but it’s wide and safe. The constant cold and the fatigue of a long trip are harder than the riding itself.
Is Norway really as expensive as they say?
Yes. It’s the most expensive destination on the UpSerra calendar. Grocery shopping is one way to save at hotels with a kitchen.
Fuel, meals, and personal expenses are each participant’s responsibility and vary a lot with the exchange rate, the region, and personal style. UpSerra doesn’t estimate these figures so we don’t pass along numbers that go stale — at the initial briefing we walk you through the day-to-day of the trip.
How does the ferry to Lofoten work?
It’s included in the package. Bodo → Moskenes (Lofoten) is a ~3-hour crossing. The bikes go on the lower deck, secured, and riders head up to the cabin — there’s a café, a lounge, panoramic ocean views. It’s worth the experience.
How do I get to Hamburg?
Direct flights São Paulo–Frankfurt + connection to Hamburg (Lufthansa, ~13h total). Direct São Paulo–Hamburg flights are rare. HAM airport is 25 min from downtown Hamburg.Important: arrival must be by the morning/afternoon of July 27 — technical motorcycle handover is in the afternoon of the 29th and the briefing dinner is that evening, before D1 departs (early July 27).
