    MENDOZA • JUNE 10–20, 2027

Mendoza 2027 — Argentine Wines, Aconcagua & the Andes

11 days riding from southern Brazil to the foot of the Andes — Mendoza vineyards, Aconcagua daytrip, San Juan and the long ride back through the pampa.
    4,362 km · Easy / Moderate level.

Mendoza is not a rushed destination. You leave Urubici, cross southern Brazil through the serra, cross the border at Santo Tomé and ride down the Argentine pampa to the foot of the Cordillera de los Andes. Four days of road that take you hand-by-hand into the country — not as a tourist, as someone who arrives.

Eleven days. 4,362 kilometers. Most of them you ride; the rest, you let the bike rest while you drink a Malbec in the shade of a century-old vine. Mendoza has that: it alternates road with winery, mountain with table, silence with toast. The full logistics is handled by the UpSerra team — you just have to remember to relax.

It’s the lightest trip on the UpSerra calendar. Easy itinerary, big landscapes, a pace meant for travelling with a partner. Riders chasing extreme adrenaline go to Atacama or Carretera. Riders who want real Argentina — good wine, Aconcagua in the window, long dinners — come to Mendoza.

Tour-completo format: you can bring your own bike or pick the BMW R1300GS UpSerra rental. Either way, mechanical support, BR↔AR border crossings, fuel logistics and lodging are handled by the team. Easy / Moderate level — 100% asphalt, comfortable averages, two longer transit days at the start and the closing.

    THE ROUTE

    Urubici → Mendoza → Aconcagua → Brazil

Urubici → Santo Tomé → San Francisco → Mendoza · vineyards 2 days → Uspallata → Aconcagua daytrip → San Juan → Villa Carlos Paz → Uruguaiana

    11 days, road and wine

    DAY 01 · WED JUN 10 · URUBICI

    Initial briefing

Meet the group, see the bikes ready, review what comes and what stays. Dinner at the Pousada UpSerra dining room before the most anxious sleep of the week.

    DAY 02 · THU JUN 11 · 785 KM

    Urubici → Santo Tomé

Out of the Serra Catarinense toward the border. Cross the agricultural region of Rio Grande do Sul, cross at Uruguaiana and enter Argentina. First night on Argentine soil in Santo Tomé.

    DAY 03 · FRI JUN 12 · 766 KM

    Santo Tomé → San Francisco

The pampa opens up. Flat horizon in every direction, farms, cattle, headwind. Easy, mental riding — the kind of day that lets the rhythm of the trip settle into the body.

    DAY 04 · SAT JUN 13 · 776 KM

    San Francisco → Mendoza

Last day of pampa, with the Cordillera appearing in the distance as you get closer. Late-afternoon arrival in Mendoza — city of wide squares, vineyards on the outskirts, gastronomy that grew at the right pace.

    DAY 05 · SUN JUN 14 · MENDOZA · FREE DAY

    Vineyards · day one

Tasting day. You pick the circuit: Maipú (historic, accessible vineyards) or Luján de Cuyo (premium tier, near the sierra). The UpSerra team advises which need advance booking.

    DAY 06 · MON JUN 15 · MENDOZA · FREE DAY

    Vineyards · day two

Second day in Mendoza to round out the experience: another vineyard, a long lunch, or a walk through Plaza Independencia and Parque General San Martín. Whoever prefers rest, rests.

    DAY 07 · TUE JUN 16 · 105 KM

    Mendoza → Uspallata

Short and cinematic stretch. The Ruta 7 climbs through the Quebrada de Cacheuta between rock walls and the Mendoza River by your side. Uspallata appears as a flat valley surrounded by peaks. Small distance, big landscape.

    DAY 08 · WED JUN 17 · 200 KM · ACONCAGUA

    Aconcagua daytrip

Climb to the Parque Provincial Aconcagua, the highest peak outside the Himalayas. Viewpoint at Laguna Horcones with the south face of Aconcagua in front. Optional continuation to Cristo Redentor de los Andes at the Chilean border (3,832 m). Return to Uspallata for the night.

    DAY 09 · THU JUN 18 · 324 KM · SAN JUAN

    Uspallata → San Juan

Out of Uspallata heading north, entering San Juan from the west. More relief on the road, landscape that shifts from arid to cultivated as you approach the city. San Juan is Argentina’s second wine region — high-altitude wines different from Mendoza Malbec.

    DAY 10 · FRI JUN 19 · 544 KM

San Juan → Villa Carlos Paz

The longest day of the return. San Juan → La Rioja → Córdoba to Villa Carlos Paz, a tourist village on Lake San Roque, surrounded by sierra. Last night in Argentina.

    DAY 11 · SAT JUN 20 · 862 KM · CLOSING

    Villa Carlos Paz → Uruguaiana

Long stretch crossing central Argentina to the border. Official closing at Uruguaiana — hugs, photos, and the trip ends here for those flying home the next day.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

Do I need a visa for Argentina?

Brazilian and most South American nationals don’t need a visa to enter Argentina. US, Canadian, EU and UK passport holders also enter visa-free for tourism (up to 90 days). Always confirm with the official consulate close to departure.

    What motorcycle will I ride?

You can join with your own motorcycle or rent a BMW R1300GS from our partner shop in Brazil. The rental includes insurance with low excess and 24/7 roadside support throughout the route.

Is altitude an issue on this tour?

We cross the Andes through Paso Cristo Redentor (3,832 m) and ride near Aconcagua (6,961 m). Mild altitude effects can happen above 3,000 m. We pace the days, hydrate well and never sleep at altitude.

When is the best time to visit Mendoza?

June-July is winter — cold mornings, mild afternoons, snow in the high Andes (chains may be required). The tour pacing is built around this. For warmer Mendoza weather, the Atacama & Mendoza tour in March is the alternative.

    What riding level is expected?

Easy to Moderate. Long distances on paved roads, predictable traffic, and one technical day in the cordillera. Riders comfortable on highways and basic mountain curves will enjoy the tour.

    Is the support van included?

Yes. A support van follows the group every day carrying luggage, spare parts, water, snacks and warm gear. You ride light. The van is also the safety net in case of any mechanical or medical issue.
