  • Lakes & Volcanoes Fly&Ride 2027 — UpSerra rider crossing the Andes Lake District

    FLY&RIDE • 2 DEPARTURES MARCH 2027

    Lakes & Volcanoes Fly&Ride 2027 — Andean Lake District

Fly into Bariloche or San Martín de los Andes, ride a UpSerra BMW R1300GS through 7 lakes, 4 volcanoes and two crossings of the Andes between Argentina and Chile.
    1,340 km · 6–7 days · Moderate level.

This is the tour for riders who want Patagonia without the wear of 4,000 km from Brazil to get there. You fly straight into Bariloche or San Martín de los Andes, land, and the BMW R1300GS prepared by UpSerra is already waiting. 6–7 days, 1,340 km of scenic roads through turquoise lakes, araucaria forests, snow-capped volcanoes and crossings of the Andes — twice.

The route starts in San Martín de los Andes, on the shore of Lake Lacar, on the Seven Lakes Route. It crosses to Pucón in Chile through the Lanín Volcano region, continues to Puerto Varas with views of the Osorno Volcano and Lake Llanquihue. It then explores Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park with Lake of All Saints, returns to Argentina via Villa La Angostura, and closes in Bariloche with the iconic Circuito Chico in Nahuel Huapi National Park.

March is the end of the southern summer in Northern Patagonia — stable weather, 15-25°C, long days with daylight until 9 p.m. One of the best windows of the year to ride this region. Moderate level, 190 km/day average, good asphalt. The full logistics is UpSerra: bike, hotels, bilingual guides, support vehicle. You only need ID/passport, a Category A motorcycle license and your inbound flight.

The route crosses the Andes twice: Paso Mamuil Malal (into Chile through the Lanín Volcano region) and Paso Cardenal Samoré (back into Argentina via Villa La Angostura). In between: two nights in Puerto Varas with Osorno Volcano and Vicente Pérez Rosales National Park, and Bariloche with Circuito Chico and Nahuel Huapi. The most compact Fly&Ride in the UpSerra calendar.

    Frequently asked questions

How does the Fly&Ride format work?

You buy a Brazil → Bariloche (BRC) or San Martín (CPC) flight. UpSerra meets you at the airport on D1, transfers you to the hotel in San Martín de los Andes and hands over the prepared BMW R1300GS. On the last day, the bike is returned in Bariloche. The bike is ours — you don’t need to bring anything besides your gear, ID/passport and Category A license.

Which airport — Bariloche or San Martín?

Bariloche (BRC) has more direct flights from Brazil (LATAM, Aerolíneas) and is where the tour ends. San Martín (CPC, Chapelco airport) is 30 km from the starting hotel and has fewer flights. Suggestion: arrive in Bariloche and depart from Bariloche too. UpSerra arranges transfer from San Martín when needed and advises on the best routing.

What weather to expect in March in Northern Patagonia?

March is the end of the southern summer — one of the best windows of the year. Daytime temperatures of 15-25°C, with nature still green and the lakes peak blue. Long days with daylight until 9 p.m. The Cordillera can have temperature swings, so layered gear matters. Rain probability is low but not zero — we ride with rain layers.

What’s the difference between Departure I (6 days) and Departure II (7 days)?

Departure I (Mar 1–6, 6 days) compresses the start: arrival and the Seven Lakes Route happen on the same day. The Chile → Bariloche stages are identical. Departure II (Mar 8–14, 7 days) has an extra acclimatization day, with the Seven Lakes Route separated from the arrival, no rush. Pick I if you have a tight schedule; pick II if you want to ease into Patagonia.

    How tough is this tour?

Moderate level. 100% asphalt, comfortable averages (190 km/day), with short stages and a single long stage (400 km on D4 Pucón → Puerto Varas). Challenges are the curves on the Andes serra and occasional crosswind in the cordillera. If you have experience on big bikes (700cc+) and have ridden the Brazilian serra, you’re ready.

Is the BMW R1300GS always included? Is there a no-bike option?

Yes — BMW R1300GS always included. There is no no-bike option on this tour. Since the client flies into Argentina, the logistics only make sense if the UpSerra bike is waiting at the destination. Riders who prefer to use their own bike should consider the Lakes & Volcanoes November 2027 tour, which departs from Lages with own bike.
