The connection between Brazil and Northern Patagonia is both at once: you leave Urubici on the RN-282, cross the border at Santo Tomé, cut through the Argentine pampa, and before you know it you are literally between lakes and volcanoes, the Andes changing color with every curve and the scent of araucaria pine in the air.
This route crosses three countries — Brazil, Argentina and Chile — through the heart of Northern Patagonia, a region where emerald-colored lakes appear around every bend and active volcanoes rise on the horizon with a geometric perfection that seems unreal. Lago Nahuel Huapi, the Siete Lagos, the snow-capped Lanín, the Laguna Azul in Pucón, Villarrica smoking above the town, Osorno mirrored in Lago Llanquihue.

Do I need a visa for Argentina and Chile? +
No. Brazilians only need a valid national ID card (RG) or passport to enter Argentina and Chile. No visa required. UpSerra guides you through all the required paperwork for you and the motorcycle (vehicle registration, green card or border insurance).
Can I rent the BMW R1300GS through UpSerra? +
Yes! UpSerra provides prepared BMW R1300GS bikes for the tour. That’s the “With BMW” upgrade in the pricing table — the bike will already be ready in Urubici on Day 1. Includes up-to-date maintenance and mechanical support from the support vehicle throughout the trip.
What is the weather like in November in Northern Patagonia? +
November is the start of summer in the southern hemisphere — the best window for the region. Temperatures between 15°C and 28°C during the day, cool nights (8°C–12°C). Long days: light until almost 9 p.m. Flowers in the fields, peaks still capped with snow (very photogenic), fewer tourists than in January-February.
Are the roads paved? How difficult is it? +
This is an Easy-level tour. The vast majority of the roads are paved and in good condition. The pampean stretches are long but comfortable; the Andean stretches are winding but always paved. There are optional gravel sections (Bosque de Arrayanes, Cochamó), but the main route is 100% paved.
Never ridden outside Brazil before — can I still do this? +
Yes. It’s the ideal tour for a first international riding experience. UpSerra handles all customs logistics at the borders (BR–AR, AR–CL, CL–AR, AR–BR), mechanical support and a daily briefing. Requirements: a Category A motorcycle license and a valid ID document.
What paperwork do I need for the motorcycle? +
To bring your own motorcycle: an up-to-date vehicle registration (CRLV), a green card (mandatory insurance for Argentina and Chile — issued by Brazilian insurers) and a passport or national ID. UpSerra sends a complete paperwork guide after your registration is confirmed.
