    EXPEDITION USHUAIA • NOV 7–28, 2026

Expedition Ushuaia 2026 — The End of the World Awaits

22 days, 9,945 km (6,180 mi) from Urubici to the southernmost city on Earth.
Ruta 40, Fitz Roy, Perito Moreno, Torres del Paine, Tierra del Fuego, Ushuaia.

This is the most ambitious tour on the UpSerra 2026 calendar. Twenty-two days crossing 9,945 km (6,180 mi) of Brazil, Argentina and Chile to Ushuaia, the southernmost city on Earth, and back through the continent. All on the bike, no shortcuts, classic motorcycle expedition format: you depart from Urubici and return to Urubici, savoring every mile of the Argentinian Pampa, the legendary Ruta 40, Chilean Patagonia with Torres del Paine, Tierra del Fuego, and the return along the Atlantic coast. Challenging level — the highest in our calendar.

Along the way, you cross 4 international borders (BR↔AR↔CL↔AR↔BR), pick up the Ruta 40 in Esquel, ride the famous “73 Incredibles” before reaching El Chaltén at the foot of Mount Fitz Roy, visit the Perito Moreno Glacier in El Calafate, cross Torres del Paine in Chile, ferry across the Strait of Magellan, arrive in Ushuaia with the Beagle Channel and Bahía Lapataia, and ride home along the Atlantic coast through Río Gallegos, Caleta Olivia, Puerto Madryn. Three strategic rest days (Esquel D6, El Chaltén D9, El Calafate D11, Ushuaia D15) to recover between long stages.

Not a first international ride. Stages of up to 786 km/day (488 mi), Patagonian crosswinds, possible snow at altitude, ferries, and the reality of three weeks on the bike. For riders who already have serious heavy-bike experience and want to close the definitive Argentinian-Chilean Patagonia loop from Brazil to Brazil. Full UpSerra logistics: hotels, pre-booked ferries, guides, support vehicle, professional photo and video coverage. The BMW R1300GS is included in every package.

THE LONGEST EXPEDITION ON THE CALENDAR

22 days to the End of the World, and back

This is the largest expedition on the UpSerra 2026 calendar. 22 days, 9,945 km (6,180 mi) — longer than Carretera Austral Complete (18d / 8,283 km) and the only tour that rides all the way to Ushuaia from Urubici and back through the continent. Frequently Asked Questions

Why is this expedition Challenging level?

It’s the highest level on the UpSerra 2026 calendar. 22 days, stages of up to 786 km/day (488 mi), Patagonian crosswinds, possible snow at altitude, mandatory Strait of Magellan ferries, 4 international borders. Not recommended as a first international ride — built for riders who already have Mendoza, Atacama+Mendoza or Carretera Austral under their belt and want to close the loop.

How does the Strait of Magellan crossing work?

To enter and leave Tierra del Fuego you must cross the Strait of Magellan by ferry (Punta Delgada ↔ Bahía Azul, ~30 minutes each way). UpSerra reserves the ferries in advance. Each crossing costs USD 30–40 and is paid directly. If bad weather closes the strait, UpSerra has a logistical plan B.

What’s the weather like in November?

Late austral spring — the best season for Patagonia. Temperatures: 5–18°C (41–64°F) with strong winds (up to 100 km/h / 62 mph in some stretches). The Andes can have snow at altitude. Rain is possible. Layered all-weather gear is mandatory; a rain shell and thermal gloves are essential.

    What are the best flights?

Florianópolis (FLN) is the closest airport to Urubici (~3 hours by car). FLN has direct flights from Buenos Aires and Santiago. From the US/Canada/UK/EU/AU/NZ: connect via São Paulo (GRU) or Buenos Aires. Plan to arrive 1–2 days before Day 1.

Do I need a visa? Is my motorcycle license valid?

US, Canadian, UK, EU, Australian and New Zealand citizens enter Brazil, Argentina and Chile visa-free (up to 90 days each). UpSerra confirms requirements at booking. Home-country motorcycle license is accepted; an International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended.

How does this differ from the Ushuaia Fly&Ride?

The Expedition Ushuaia (this tour) departs from Urubici, Brazil, runs 22 days and covers 9,945 km / 6,180 mi crossing 4 borders — the full overland mototurismo experience, BMW R1300GS included. The Ushuaia Fly&Ride (Oct 2026) is 10 days, you fly into El Calafate, BMW included, focused on the Southern Patagonia loop. Lighter and more focused.

How tough are the daily stages?

Variable. Some days 200–300 km (rest, sightseeing). Others 700+ km on long Ruta 40 stretches. Average ~450 km/day. Patagonian wind makes any distance feel longer — endurance is the real challenge. The 3 strategic rest days (Esquel D6, El Chaltén D9, El Calafate D11) plus Ushuaia D15 are how we keep the pace sustainable.
