Andean Lakes Tour 2026 — Argentina & Chile

15 days from Urubici across Northern Patagonia.
Villa La Angostura, Pucón, Puerto Varas, Bariloche — crystal lakes, volcanoes and the Seven Lakes Route.

The closing tour of the UpSerra calendar — and the most cinematic way into Northern Patagonia. Fifteen days riding 6,692 km (4,158 mi) across Brazil, Argentina and Chile through the Andean Lakes region — Villa La Angostura, Pucón, Puerto Varas, Bariloche — with crystal lakes, snow-capped volcanoes, charming alpine villages, and roads that switch between Argentinian pampas and the Andes.

The route crosses 4 international borders (BR↔AR↔CL↔AR↔BR) and spends 5 days in the lake district with 3 strategic rest days (Villa La Angostura D6, Puerto Varas D9, Bariloche D11) to absorb the landscape. You ride the famous Seven Lakes Route, cross into Pucón with the Villarrica volcano on the horizon, follow on to Puerto Varas with Volcán Osorno and Lake Llanquihue, return to Argentina via Cardenal Samoré pass and close in Bariloche with Lake Nahuel Huapi and Cerro Catedral.

Easy level — the only Easy-level tour in the UpSerra calendar that reaches Northern Patagonia from Urubici. Paved roads almost the entire way, comfortable stages (~445 km/day average, with longer stretches at the start and finish). It’s the year-end tour, perfect to close 2026 with a complete trip and time to absorb every stop. Full UpSerra logistics: hand-selected hotels, bilingual tour leader, support vehicle, professional photo coverage. The BMW R1300GS is included in every package. Starting and finishing in Urubici, Brazil — fly into Florianópolis (FLN).

    Frequently Asked Questions

How does this differ from the Lakes & Volcanoes Fly&Ride?

This is the full overland tour from Brazil. Lakes & Volcanoes Fly&Ride (7 days, October) is the shorter version where you fly directly into Patagonia. Andean Lakes (15 days, November) gives you the full ride from Urubici and back — pampas, Andes, and the lake district, complete circuit.

    Why Easy level?

Daily distances are comfortable (mostly between 300 and 500 km), roads are paved almost the entire way, the pace is planned to enjoy the scenery, and tourist infrastructure is solid across the three borders. The ideal entry point for riders who want to start touring South America by motorcycle.

What’s the weather like in November in the Andes?

Late spring, beginning of the Patagonian summer. Temperatures between 5–22°C (41–72°F), long daylight hours, snow only on the high peaks. The best window of the year to ride the region: open roads, full lakes, snow-capped volcanoes. Rain shell and light layers handle it.

    What are the best flights?

Florianópolis (FLN) is the closest airport to Urubici (~3 hours by car). FLN has direct flights from Buenos Aires and Santiago. From the US/Canada/UK/EU/AU/NZ: connect via São Paulo (GRU) or Buenos Aires. Plan to arrive 1–2 days before Day 1.

Do I need a visa? Is my motorcycle license valid?

US, Canadian, UK, EU, Australian and New Zealand citizens enter Brazil, Argentina and Chile visa-free for tourism (up to 90 days each). UpSerra confirms requirements at booking. Home-country motorcycle license is accepted; an International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended.

I’ve never ridden outside my country — is this tour ok for that?

Yes. This tour was designed for that first international ride. UpSerra handles the customs logistics across the three borders (BR-AR, AR-CL, CL-AR-BR), provides mechanical backup with the support vehicle and runs daily briefings. You only need a valid motorcycle license, passport and the will to ride.

How much should I budget for fuel and meals?

Fuel: USD 800–1,200 across the 6,692 km. Meals: USD 40–70/day across the three countries. Tolls and parking: USD 80–120. Plan a buffer of USD 1,000–1,400 for comfort, fuller dinners, and optional excursions (Bosque de Arrayanes boat, Cerro Bayo, Cerro Tronador).

    How do I pay?

10% deposit at booking. Balance via international wire transfer in USD or credit card. Talk to the UpSerra team on WhatsApp.
