The Alps aren’t crossed — they’re respected. You leave Munich under BMW’s history, climb the first mountain range in Austria via Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse, and from there on the road stops being a road. It becomes engineering, rhythm, conquest.
Stelvio with 48 zigzag hairpins. Furka with the memory of James Bond. Grimsel at the edge of the glacier. Sustenpass drawn on the mountainside as if it were a painting. Ten days on a BMW R1300GS, 2,700 kilometers, five countries crossed hand to hand — Germany, Austria, Italy, Switzerland, France.
It’s the most technical tour on the UpSerra calendar. It’s not desert, it’s not pampas, it’s not Andean cordillera — it’s the European school of the mountain. Here, every pass has its own name, every curve has a story. Whoever rides the Alps once never looks at a road the same way again.

DAY-BY-DAY ITINERARY
DAY 01 · SAT JUL 15 · MUNICH
Welcome in Munich, technical bike briefing, gear adjustments and welcome dinner. Those who arrive early can enjoy the Bavarian historic center.
10 days. The passes that change a rider.
Early start. We cross the Bavarian plain to the first Alpine ranges, entering Austria. Absolute highlight: Grossglockner Hochalpenstrasse, with the Kaiser-Franz-Josefs-Höhe viewpoint — direct view of the Grossglockner (3,798 m), Austria’s highest mountain. Overnight in Lienz, East Tyrol.
Entering the Dolomites. A sequence of legendary passes: Passo di Stalle, Cortina d’Ampezzo (the “Queen of the Dolomites”), Passo di Giau (2,236 m, open panorama), Passo Pordoi (2,239 m, 48 zigzag hairpins), Passo Gardena. Vertical rock towers in every direction.
Technical crossing between Italy, Austria and Switzerland. Passo di Monte Giovo (Jaufenpass), Passo Rombo (Timmelsjoch, 2,474 m — an alpine colossus with a museum at the top), Passo di Resia. Lake Resia with the famous submerged church tower emerging from the water.
The most awaited day. Passo dello Stelvio (2,757 m) — the “King of the Alps”, the second highest paved pass in Europe, 48 tight hairpins on the Italian side. Sequence with Foscagno, Forcola di Livigno, Passo Bernina (2,328 m, Morteratsch glacier and Lago Bianco). Davos closes the day.
Endurance day through the Grisons. Julierpass, Malojapass (zigzag curves above the Engadine lakes), Splügenpass (a hidden gem), Passo del San Bernardino, Lukmanierpass, Oberalppass (with the red lighthouse at the top). Andermatt — the mythical village of alpine motorcycling.
The most famous Swiss passes in sequence. Sustenpass (2,224 m, glacier view), Grimselpass (with view of the Oberaar glacier), Furkapass (2,429 m — the one from James Bond’s Goldfinger), Passo San Gottardo, Nufenenpass (2,478 m). Sierre, in the heart of Valais.
A lighter day with cinematic scenery. Forclaz Pass and Col des Montets to Chamonix, at the foot of the Mont Blanc massif. Free afternoon — recommended the Aiguille du Midi cable car to contemplate Mont Blanc (4,808 m) and the glaciers. Overnight in the world’s most famous Alpine village.
Back to Switzerland via the Grand St. Bernard (2,469 m, historic hospice), Champex-Lac, Les Mosses, Jaunpass. Special stops: the Gruyère cheese factory and the first Nestlé factory in Broc (Swiss chocolate, museum). Overnight in Interlaken, between Lakes Thun and Brienz.
The longest, most scenic stretch. Brünigpass, Klausenpass (1,948 m, dramatic), passing by crystalline alpine lakes (Sarnen, Lungern). Arrival in Innsbruck, Tyrolean capital, surrounded by impressive mountains. Dinner in the historic city.
Final stretch. Small mountains and Austrian Alpine valleys, descending back to Bavaria. Arrival in Munich, bike return. Farewell dinner. Checkout on July 26 — those who want to extend, Bavaria, Salzburg and the Rhine Valley have much to offer.

LEGENDARY PASSES
The passes that change a rider
The Alps aren’t a random collection of mountain roads. Every pass has a name, a year of construction, a history written by engineers, drivers and motorcyclists. Stelvio opened in 1825, is the second highest paved pass in Europe, and its 48 tight hairpins remain the definitive technical test. Furka appeared in James Bond and has zigzag stretches between glaciers. Grimsel cuts through the Oberaar glacier as if drawn with a ruler. Grossglockner takes you to the foot of Austria’s highest mountain.
Riding this sequence — Stelvio, Bernina, Furka, Grimsel, Susten, Nufenen, Pordoi, Giau — in 10 days is the most condensed way to understand why the Alps are considered the Disneyland of world motorcycling. Every curve has a purpose. Every climb has a rhythm. The mountain here is trained — and it trains whoever arrives.

PRE-REQUISITES
Who can join
- Passport valid beyond January 2028
- Valid motorcycle license Category A (new model — accepted by the European rental company)
- International credit card with minimum EUR 2,500 limit for the motorcycle deposit
- Experience on big motorcycles (700cc+) with comfort in technical curves — passes have 36-48 consecutive tight hairpins at altitude
- Own gear: helmet, jacket with protections, riding pants, gloves, boots. 2-in-1 jacket recommended — temperatures vary from 5°C at the peaks to 28°C in the valleys
- Be in Munich by 2pm on July 15 — delays compromise the Day 1 briefing and departure
- Vaccinations: none required for the EU
