It’s the most ambitious expedition on the UpSerra 2028 calendar. Twenty-one days riding 9,945 km across Brazil, Argentina and Chile to Ushuaia, the southernmost city on the planet, and back through the continent. All by motorcycle, no shortcuts, in the classic motorcycle expedition format: you depart from Urubici and return to Urubici, savoring every kilometer of the Argentine Pampa, the legendary Ruta 40, Chilean Patagonia with Torres del Paine, Tierra del Fuego, and the return along the Atlantic coast. Challenging level — the highest on the calendar.
Along the way, you cross 4 international borders (BR↔AR↔CL↔AR↔BR), pick up the Ruta 40 in Esquel, ride the “73 Incríveis” stretch before reaching El Chaltén at the foot of Mount Fitz Roy, visit the Perito Moreno Glacier in El Calafate, cross Torres del Paine in Chile, take the ferry across the Strait of Magellan, arrive in Ushuaia with the Beagle Channel and Lapataia Bay, and make the return along the Atlantic coast via Rio Gallegos, Caleta Olivia, Puerto Madryn. Three strategic rest days (Esquel D6, El Chaltén D9, El Calafate D11, Ushuaia D15) to recover between long stages.
This is not a first international tour. It has stages of up to 786 km/day, Patagonian crosswind, possible snow at altitude, ferries, and the whole challenge of living 3 weeks on the bike. For riders who’ve already done Mendoza, Atacama+Mendoza or Carretera Austral and want to close out the definitive Argentine-Chilean Patagonia roadbook from Brazil to Brazil. Urubici → Santo Tomé
Official start of the expedition. We cross southern Brazil to the border at Uruguaiana, entering Argentina. Overnight in Santo Tomé.

Santo Tomé → Campana/Zárate
Riding across the plains of the Argentine Pampa. Overnight in Campana or Zárate, on the banks of the Paraná River.
DAY 3 · 597 KM
Campana/Zárate → Santa Rosa
Long straightaways and landscapes typical of the Argentine interior. Santa Rosa is the capital of La Pampa.
DAY 4 · 536 KM
Santa Rosa → Neuquén
Transition from the Pampa region into Northern Patagonia. The landscape starts to open up.

Neuquén → Esquel
Official entry onto the legendary Ruta 40. The Andes start rising on the horizon. Esquel is the base for exploring Los Alerces.

Entry into Chile via Paso Río Don Guillermo. Landscapes of Torres del Paine National Park. Overnight in Puerto Natales.

Puerto Natales → Rio Grande
Ferry crossing of the Strait of Magellan and arrival in Tierra del Fuego. Overnight in Rio Grande, on the Atlantic coast.

Rio Grande → Ushuaia

Beagle Channel / Lapataia Bay
Optional boat trip on the Beagle Channel and a visit to Lapataia Bay, where Route 3 ends (the official end of the Pan-American Highway).

The return begins with another ferry crossing of the Strait of Magellan and windswept landscapes.

Caleta Olivia → Puerto Madryn
Arrival in the charming port city of Puerto Madryn, known for southern right whales at Península Valdés (in season). Local seafood cuisine.

Puerto Madryn → Santa Rosa
Return to central Argentina along the Atlantic coast.
DAY 20 · 599 KM
Santa Rosa → Campana/Zárate
Crossing the heart of the Pampa toward the Buenos Aires metropolitan area.
DAY 21 · RETURN TO BRAZIL
Campana/Zárate → Santo Tomé
Final stretch of the route on Argentine soil, before the last border crossing into Brazil.

This is the longest expedition on the UpSerra 2028 calendar. 21 days, 9,945 km — surpassing the Full Carretera Austral (18d/8,283km) — and the only one that reaches Ushuaia by motorcycle, departing from Urubici and returning through the continent. It crosses 4 international borders, spanning 4 distinct ecosystems: the Argentine Pampa, Argentine Patagonia (Ruta 40), Chilean Patagonia (Torres del Paine), and Tierra del Fuego, shared between the two countries.
It’s the tour for riders who’ve already done the rest and want to close the cycle. Challenging level — stages of up to 786 km, Patagonian crosswind, mandatory ferries, possible snow at altitude, and the psychological logistics of living 3 weeks on the bike. The 3 strategic rest days (Esquel, El Chaltén, El Calafate) and Ushuaia D15 are the points to recover between long stages. Those who finish come back with enough stories to tell for the next 10 years.
