    NORTHERN PATAGONIA · NOVEMBER 15–30, 2027

    Between Lakes & Volcanoes 2027

16 days · Brazil overland to Argentina and Chile.
Urubici, Bariloche, the Seven Lakes Road, Pucón, Villarrica, Puerto Varas and the Andes between the two countries.

Northern Patagonia is where the Andes start to be the Andes. It’s not yet the wilderness of Carretera Austral, not yet the steppes of Torres del Paine — it’s the gentler face of Patagonia, with alpine lakes you can swim in, perfect-cone volcanoes visible from the cities, German-style towns on the Chilean side, and the legendary Seven Lakes Road on the Argentine side. The Andes between the two countries, ridden on asphalt, with paved border crossings and short distances between iconic stops.

Sixteen days. Three countries — Brazil, Argentina, Chile. ~6,700 km. Overland from Urubici (in southern Brazil’s Serra Geral) down through the Argentine pampas to Bariloche, the Andes crossing to Pucón with the Villarrica volcano smoking above the city, the German lake district of Puerto Varas, the loop back through Bariloche and the long return through Argentina. UpSerra’s gentlest international tour — the one for those who want their first overseas ride done properly, with full team support, paved roads, and Patagonia delivered without the extremes.

November is early Southern Hemisphere summer — the right window. Temperatures between 15°C and 28°C / 59–82°F during the day, cool nights (8–12°C / 46–54°F), days long until almost 9pm. Wildflowers in the fields, snow still on the peaks. Easy level, paved throughout. Bring your own bike or rent UpSerra’s BMW R1300GS waiting in Urubici.

    FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

    Common questions

Do I need a visa for Argentina and Chile?

Travelers from most countries don’t need a tourist visa to enter Argentina and Chile (check your nationality). UpSerra advises on all required documentation for you and the motorcycle (registration, carta verde or border insurance).

Can I rent the BMW R1300GS through UpSerra?

Yes! UpSerra provides BMW R1300GS motorcycles prepped for the tour. It’s the “With BMW” upgrade on the pricing table — the bike will be ready in Urubici on Day 1. Includes up-to-date maintenance and mechanical support from the support vehicle throughout the trip.

What’s the weather like in November in Northern Patagonia?

November is early Southern Hemisphere summer — the best window for the region. Temperatures between 15°C and 28°C / 59–82°F during the day, cool nights (8–12°C / 46–54°F). Long days: daylight until almost 9pm. Wildflowers in the fields, snow still on the peaks (photogenic), fewer tourists than January-February.

Are the roads paved? What’s the difficulty?

Easy-level tour. The vast majority of roads are good asphalt. The pampas sections are long but comfortable; the Andean sections are curvy but always paved. Optional gravel stretches exist (Bosque de Arrayanes, Cochamó), but the main route is 100% asphalt.

Can someone who has never ridden internationally do this tour?

Yes. It’s the ideal tour for a first international experience. UpSerra handles all customs logistics at the borders (BR–AR, AR–CL, CL–AR, AR–BR), mechanical support from the chase vehicle and daily briefings. Requirements: Category A motorcycle license and valid ID/passport.

What documentation is needed for the motorcycle?

To bring your own bike: up-to-date registration, carta verde (mandatory insurance for Argentina and Chile — issued by local insurers) and passport or ID. UpSerra sends a complete documentation guide after registration is confirmed.
