  • French Alps & Provence 2027 — UpSerra rider on a road through Provence lavender fields

    FRENCH ALPS & PROVENCE • JUN 22 – JUL 1, 2027

French Alps & Provence 2027 — Iseran, Galibier, Verdon & Lavender

10 days riding the legendary French Alps and Provence — Col de l’Iseran (2,770 m), Galibier, Izoard, Verdon, Mont Ventoux and Valensole lavender plateau.
    1,567 km · Lyon loop · BMW R1300GS included.

There are beautiful roads. And there are roads that make you stop the bike just to understand where you are. French Alps & Provence is born from that idea: cross some of Europe’s most impressive scenery combining the great alpine passes, monumental canyons, medieval villages and lavender fields that define southern France.

Ten days at the heart of world motorcycle touring. Col de l’Iseran (2,770 m — the highest paved alpine pass in the world), Galibier, Izoard, Route Napoléon, Mont Ventoux, Verdon, Ardèche, Vercors. Names you’ve read in magazines and dreamed about — here you actually ride them, with the UpSerra team in front and the support vehicle behind.

Fly & Ride Premium format: you land in Lyon, the BMW R1300GS is waiting, and the next ten days are nothing but riding, scenery and French gastronomy. Small group. Each alpine pass is a conquest. Each canyon looks like a film. The Valensole lavender plateau in June is a separate scene.

Europe-tour format: BMW R1300GS rental in Europe is always included in the price (handover and return at Lyon). UpSerra handles hotels, the support vehicle, route planning, bilingual guides and the technical briefing. You bring your motorcycle license and your gear — flight to Lyon (LYS) is on the rider. Moderate / Advanced level — high-altitude alpine pass riding with hairpin sequences demands experience handling big bikes on serpentine roads.

    FAQ

    Frequently asked questions

Do I need an international driver permit?

Yes. To ride in France you need an International Driving Permit (IDP) issued in your home country, plus your original motorcycle license. Carry both at all times. Brazilians: the PID is issued by Detran.

    What motorcycle will I ride?

BMW R1300GS or R1250GS Adventure, included in the package. The bike is delivered fueled and serviced in Munich. You ride it the full route and return it in Munich at the end.

What’s the weather like in June-July?

Alpine passes are open and clear in late June — expect 18-25°C in valleys, 5-12°C at 2,500m+ passes. Provence in July is hot and dry (28-35°C) with lavender fields in full bloom. Layers are essential.

Are the high Alpine passes difficult?

Iseran (2,770m), Galibier (2,642m) and Verdon roads are world-class twisty but technically accessible to any rider comfortable with mountain curves. We brief each pass in the morning and ride at a relaxed pace.

    Is the support van included?

Yes. The van follows the group with luggage, spare gear, water and snacks. It also becomes the safety vehicle if any rider needs a break from the saddle.

    What’s the riding level?

Moderate. The tour suits riders with mountain experience or strong adventure-touring skills. We don’t do off-road but the alpine passes demand attention. New riders to mountain riding can join with a pre-trip briefing.
