The tour starts in San Miguel de Tucumán (Argentina) — plan to land 1–2 days before D1 so you’re rested for the start. UpSerra meets you at the airport on D1, transfers you to the hotel, and hands over the already-prepared BMW R1300GS. On D11 (09/26), you return the bikes and join the closing dinner. Flight home the next day, or extend the trip on your own. The bike belongs to UpSerra — you just need to bring your ID/passport, license, and personal gear.

San Pedro de Atacama sits at 2,400m. The Geiser del Tatio (optional visit) reaches 4,320m. Paso de Jama tops 4,000m and Paso San Francisco reaches 4,726m (the tour’s highest point). UpSerra builds in progressive acclimatization — D4 in Purmamarca is already at 2,300m before the Paso de Jama. Intense hydration, a slow pace on the first morning, local coca-leaf tea. It works for 95% of people. If you feel unwell, portable oxygen equipment is available in the support vehicle.

It’s winter in the southern hemisphere, but milder than June/July. Lowland Argentina: 8-22°C. Atacama: 0-5°C in the morning, 22-25°C in the afternoon — the desert dries everything out. Chilean coast: 12-20°C. Paso de Jama and Paso San Francisco can see scattered snow — wind chill on the bike drops to -5°C. Layered gear is mandatory, especially for the Andean pass crossings.

Easy level — the only easy tour in the March lineup. The route is 100% asphalt, averaging 260 km/day, at a comfortable pace. The challenges are wind and altitude on the two Andean passes. If you’ve got mileage on a large bike (700cc+) and have already ridden Brazil’s mountain roads (Mantiqueira, Serra Catarinense, Serra Gaúcha), you’re ready. Since the bike belongs to UpSerra — no worrying about maintenance, parts, or border crossings — it’s a great entry point into international motorcycle touring.

Yes, the BMW R1300GS is always included on this tour — there’s no option without a bike. Since you fly to Tucumán, the logistics only work if UpSerra’s bike is waiting for you at the destination.
